  • What is the life expectancy of this mat?
Safe-Flex mats are expected to last up to 10 years under normal use. Grit can be expected to last 2 years depending on the environment – weight on the mats, hours per day, types of chemicals spilled on them, frequency and method of cleaning etc.
  • What is ESD?
Electrostatic dissipation is a component that has been added to our ESD mats to dissipate charge throughout the mat and put an end to static shocks that can be painful to employees and detrimental to sensitive equipment. Our ESD tiles meet ANSI/ESD S7.1 test standard. Grounding (tape or other) can be put down on floor under ESD areas if your workspace requires additional protection. Cutting tiles or normal wear of tiles does not affect ESD properties as our proprietary molding technique adds ESD throughout the entire tile not just on top or in one portion of it. Our ESD resistance rating is 1 x 10^7 Ohm. ESD tiles are meant to be used in a dry environment.
  • Are the mats resistant to industrial chemicals?
Yes, mats are highly resistant to industrial chemicals. Communication with your sales rep if you have concerns about a particularly corrosive solvent used in your facility.
  • Are Safe-Flex Floor Tiles fire resistant?
All tiles are Class 1 Fire Resistant (with the exception of ESD tiles)
  • What is the thickness of the tiles?
The tiles are 1 inch thick
  • Do the tiles accommodate cord management capabilities?
Our unique leg structure can accommodate cords up to 5/8 of an inch in diameter without any change in surface height, eliminating trip hazards found with lose cords, cables, and air lines
  • Can I use Safe-Flex Tiles in my garage?
Absolutely, they are a great surface to help garage stay clean, safe and attractive. Additionally, if you spend time standing in your garage doing car repairs, woodworking etc. they provide a wonderful ergonomic surface.
  • Where can I find product spec sheets?
Spec sheets are found on the product page of our website by clicking on the "spec sheet" button under each product listing. You can also check out our resource library (link is in the footer of every page)
  • How do I purchase these mats?
Mats can be purchased through sales reps throughout Canada, USA, Mexico, and Europe. Contact us at info@ergoadvantageinc.com to find a rep in your area!
  • Why would I need colored tiles?
Colored tiles have a variety of uses. They can demarcate hazards, work spaces, spill areas or static areas. They can edge a raised area. They can also be used as a contrasting tool to help spot dropped parts or simply to increase the esthetic or brand awareness of the plant.
  • How do the surface domes help ergonomically?
The Compression-Flex domes provide small instabilities in the flooring surface. This encourages micro-muscle movements in the feet, legs, hips and lower back, which helps with blood flow and lessens fatigue and stress.
  • How does Compression Flex Technology work?
When weight is placed on the tile the patented leg structure disperses weight evenly throughout the tile. The legs and surface domes compress slightly and provide cushioning then returns to its original position as weight is released aiding the upward movement of the foot.
  • Are there studies that prove that anti-fatigue mats actually work?
Yes, there are many! Check out our Case Studies section in the Resource Library tab
  • What percentage of workplace accidents are caused by slip hazards every year?
29% of workplace accidents are caused by slip hazards.
  • Don't insoles do the same thing?
Insoles can help cushion the body to a certain extent, but only provide a fraction of the protection of Safe-Flex mats. Additionally, insoles have a very limited time of effectiveness and have no way to be tested. They also do not prevent slips and trips.
  • Isn't a soft mat more comfortable to work on during a long shift?
A soft mat actually compresses completely, at which point they no longer offer any cushion value at all. Soft mats can be a trip hazard as a foot sinks in and can be locked into place and twisted if sporadically moving. Soft mats increase fatigue and ultimately do not offer support.
  • Are all tile types able to connect to each other?
Yes they all have the same interlocking system so that edges, corners and all tile types can be attached to each other easily and quickly. They will never disconnect with normal use. To unlock the system simply pull up an edge and the connection system will come apart easily to allow for reassembly to accommodate new equipment or any other change in environment.
  • How do I install the mats?
Your specified sales rep can assist you in planning the installation of your tiles. In general terms, tiles are installed left to right with connection tabs oriented at 3'o'clock and 6 o'clock. More detailed installation guidelines can be obtained from your Safe-Flex rep.
  • How do I clean the mats?
Mats can be swept, vacuumed or power washed and cleaned with any type of industrial grade soap/disinfectant.
  • Can tiles be used on a raised grated platform?
Yes. We have an underlay available to accommodate the uneven grated surface. This provides a smooth surface to ensure stability of leg structure and integrity of tiles.
  • Does cutting the tiles affect their ESD or their compression rating?
No, tiles can be cut to go around equipment or posts and still retain their structural and ESD integrity.
  • Will the edges curl on the mats?
No, the edges will never curl.
  • Can I get them re-fitted?
At this point, we are unable to refit once installed.
  • How do I recycle your mats when they wear out?
We will take any tiles and recycle them at no cost to you at any time.
